Cayuga County Office Building - Asbestos Issue
Another developing story in Cayuga County, NY that may be of interest to environmental lawyers and environmental health and safety professionals relates to an asbestos issue in the Cayuga County Office Building. The building was built in 1966 and weather caused serious damage to the roof and later what county officials referred to as vermiculite. Cayuga County officials later revised this to “vermiculite asbestos”.
It would be nice if an environmental law firm or an organization like Mesothelioma Hope, could offer Cayuga County an “Asbestos Awareness – Rights and Responsibilities” workshop at the local high school or the local community college. Given the number of county employees and residents who may be impacted, such a workshop could help raise awareness of county employees and county residents as to the potential hazards of asbestos and what individual and employee rights and responsibilities include.
