It’s Almost Time To Celebrate!!!
I just looked at the calendar this morning and realized that in only two more months, I will be having my 2nd year wedding anniversary!!! I cannot believe two years has passed by so quickly and then today when I looked closer at the calendar….I see it’s almost time to celebrate!
It is also coming up on almost two years since my health took a serious decline during the Fall 2022 when I got married and was living near Aurora, NY. This was especially true shortly after my marriage in the Spring 2023, when my health took a substantial and unexplained nosedive that was baffling my doctors. I saw such a substantial decline in my health that I actually did not think I was going to see my 54th birthday last year. Even though my symptoms and health conditions have still been somewhat baffling to my doctors, I have been able to slowly recover. While trying to be a responsible son and husband, I even took care of all my funeral preplanning and even picked out my casket and headstone! Both are pretty cool!!!
On a side note, while having conversations around advanced directives, funeral preplanning, health care proxies, living wills, etc., are tough conversations for some people, they are important conversations to have before they are needed. Coming from the perspective of someone who went from spending four months in the Caribbean diving an average of four days per week…and then less than six months later questioning whether or not he was going to be celebrating his next birthday…do your family a favor and read the New York State (NYS) Department of Health - Advance Care Planning and Advance Directives FAQ. To be perfectly honest, it was actually kind of fun picking out my casket. The epitaph on my headstone is going to be…of course…There Is A Method To The Madness.
Earlier this summer, I came out to Colorado to help a good friend work on his fixer upper house while he is still living and working there as a government contractor. Besides having the opportunity to give a good friend a hand on a very big project, I have also used this opportunity to work really hard at getting my health back in good condition. Since I have been in Colorado, I have been able to turn my health around. It has taken me serious discipline and a substantial amount of effort in order to maintain my health. However, I feel better now than I have in the last two years…without a question. Despite the amount of discipline and effort that has been required, I’m happy to report that it’s working…per my doctor at Roswell Park in Buffalo, NY! I left him with a smile and he said to just keep doing whatever it is I am doing…which I understood to mean for me to go back to Colorado to hang out in the warmer weather, help out my friend, visit all the cool Colorado state parks…and of course, take full advantage of the amazing fly fishing! I am all about following these doctor’s orders!!!
I’ve told several people that I could not have asked for a better time or place to be located right now so I can continue to focus on taking care of my health. The results of my efforts are looking very promising and at some point I hope to write a detailed article on what I have been doing in an effort to share information with other people dealing with the same health conditions. I have since been back and forth to New York State a couple of times and will be returning again in October in a couple of weeks. Just for the record, it takes me about 5 days to get from New York to Colorado, driving between 4.5 to 6 hours each day. Because my creative energy occurs in the mornings, I work in the mornings, drive in the afternoons, and then try to do some walking around the local areas. As part of keeping my health in good condition, I strive to get an average of 15,000 steps per day, even when I am traveling. It’s a good reason to explore all these new places while walking!
I’m going to continue doing my absolute best to get myself in prime condition both mentally and physically over these next two months. When November 26, 2024, comes around…I fully intend on being in great shape for my upcoming 2nd year anniversary celebration.
For any other professionals in a new job…married couples…pet birthdays, etc.…and to all of you sweeties out there getting ready to celebrate your upcoming 2nd anniversary too…between now and November 26, 2024….I send you all big hugs, warm kisses, and lots of love and wish you all a Happy 2nd Year Anniversary too!!!!
