A Monkey In A Suit...Is Still A Monkey...
I recently read an article posted in the Cornell Daily Sun “Admin Responds to Trump’s Executive Orders, Policies on Federal Grants, Deportation” by Matthew Kiviat, and wanted to give credit where credit was due for this informative article.
I noticed this very interesting image linked to a website called "Alumni for a Fair and Just Cornell".
My compliments on the extensive research and references used...very, very impressive! Can you imagine if even just the existing (Poison) Ivy League universities had a similar analysis completed on some of their key Board of Trustees….Board of Directors…Board of How-Much-Can-We-Take-From-The-Students-Futures...how cool that would be?!?!
I wonder how many other universities and Board of Trustees would make future decisions if they knew such behaviors, tactics, and actions would be made public so everyone could see exactly who these individuals on these Boards are and whose interests they truly represent?
In the spirit of transparency, I have personally served on a number of non-profit Board of Directors, and it has been both a challenging and an incredibly rewarding experience. To this day I still have friendships with former Board members upon whom I served with on various Boards, committees, and volunteer organizations.
The problems with Boards is when individuals seeking fame and glory lose sight of the mission of the Boards and then the GOOD people tend to just fade away, while the cronies of those who seek to benefit their self-interest…have a tendency to hang around, rather than give new people the same chances and opportunities they were given. I have seen this more clearly in for-profit organizations, however, non-profit organizations like universities, know how to play the system too.
Hence….we have a classic Board Broken Record and then if left to its own devices as in the Big Bloody Red Board of Trustees…is anyone really surprised when someone or group of concerned individuals take the time and effort to expose them for who they are and what they truly represent…and gee…who didn’t see that one coming…
…yet federal and state dollars still flow in terms of loans and grants, alumni keep giving gifts and donations…
We need more transparent disclosure of these Board of Trustees (or whatever you want to call them) if they are to receive taxpayer funding at the local, state, or federal level. Period.
The articles and research done by independent news organizations and in particular, student run newspapers like The Cornell Daily Sun...are essential to any truly free nation...regardless where that may be. This is also why I like to remind people to support their local, independent, and student run newspapers...like Supporting The Sun!
At the end of the day, if the students are not going to take the time to do the research and to do independent reporting...then it’s their own future they are screwing over. Those of us GOOD guys in the old guard just need to provide some support and assistance to get them in the right direction.
Young Professionals...regardless of how old you are...it is your future that is at stake...take back control over your own future...or the current powers in charge will be happy to take even more control of you for their own future. Have fun with that one! 🤠 🥢 🐎
